The first of its kind to be held in the UK, the Exclusively Women’s Basketball League also know as the EWBL provides a platform for women, particularly from Muslim and other ethnic minority communities to gain competitive experience as players, coaches, officials and spectators in an environment sensitive to their religious and cultural needs.
The first league ran for five months from March to July 2011. Six women’s teams competed with approximately fifty women coming together once a month at a central venue in North West London to play their fixtures.
