“I am delighted to endorse the work of the Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation on behalf of London 2012.
Your organisation’s efforts to develop a foundation from which a highly successful team can be nurtured, and to provide a lasting legacy for Muslim women in this country are highly commendable and have the full support of London 2012.
I fully support the Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation and wish you the very best of luck for the future.”
Deborah Jevans, Director of Sport, London 2012

“I was pleased to hear that British Muslim women will be taking part in the [International Islamic Women’s] Games for the second time running.
It is great to see British Muslims representing the UK in sporting events such as this, making such an important contribution to sport in this country and I hope to see some of this year’s competitors at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012!”
Rt Hon Richard Caborn MP, Minister for Sport, Department for Culture, Media and Sport
Foreign & Commonwealth Office - November 2001
“I should like to offer my congratulations to the British team that participated in the Islamic Countries Women’s Games in Iran last week, and also to yourself for the work you did in putting the team together.
Our Embassy in Tehran have said the team’s presence as the first European country to compete at the games was very much welcomed by the organisers and I was delighted to hear of the award given to Britain as the “most disciplined team”. Another first is the news that the UK has been elected to represent “non-muslim” countries on the governing board of the Games.”
Denis MacShane
Department of Culture Media & Sport - November 2001
“I am delighted to send a message in support of the UK representatives attending the 3rd Islamic Countries Women’s games in Tehran. It is an honour for the UK to be the first non-muslim European Country to be invited to take part. I am sure that the Games will provide an appropriate platform to raise awareness and to demonstrate the benefits that sport can bring to all.
As Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, I am always pleased to hear about World community events of this kind. This is an excellent opportunity for those British Muslim women and their families who have successfully qualified for the Games, to celebrate their culture through this event.
I would like to wish the very best of luck to everyone participating in this festival and to express my deep admiration for the efforts of those whose dedication and hard work have made it possible.”
Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport
Greater London Authority - September 2005

The Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation is to be commended for its work and achievements to date and I wish them every success in the future.”
