Since 2001 the MWSF has trained teams to represent Great Britain at the International Women’s Islamic Games.
These Games, as with the Olympics take place once every 4 years with the difference between them being the conditions in which the events take place.
According to the teachings of Islam, women should be modest in their dress & behaviour especially in public environments where men may be present. This means that for many sports such as football, basketball, athletics, swimming etc... where tight or revealing clothing is worn, Muslim women are restricted from participating.
